UTAH COUNTY, Utah -- After two months in Antarctica, Utahn Daniel Burton has returned home after becoming the only man to bike to the South Pole.
Burton rode for 51 days in straight summer sunshine through the freezing temperatures of Antarctica to reach his goal.
Burton said the trip was worth it, but difficult.
"I wrote in my blog that, 'This is the hardest day of my life.' And I wrote that over and over and over," he said. "And it was true. Every day was the hardest day of my life. And doing that for two months, it is hard. It just wears you down."
Burton said riding through the deep snow was one of the most difficult parts of the trip, but he said he was eventually able to find and follow some tire tracks, which made the trek easier.
Burton lives in Saratoga Springs.
