SALT LAKE CITY – Big Budah has lost nearly 150 pounds in about a year, and he spoke to FOX 13 News’ Hope Woodside about his journey.
Budah said the three things that helped him most were bariatric surgery, exercise and eating healthier foods.
“Number one has to be the surgery - the procedure,” he said. “When you take out 80 percent of the stomach, you lose 80 percent of cravings, 80 percent of capacity to hold foods. Two and three are what everyone else is struggling with: exercise and diet.”
Budah said after going to the gym for regularly for 30 days, the activity became a habit rather than a chore. He said he eventually even began to look forward to his workouts.
Budah said his health and quality of life are much better these days, and he said he has never felt closer to his wife—literally.
"I know what spooning is now, before it was a long distance relationship,” he said with a laugh.
Budah said doctors tell him his weight is likely to settle somewhere around 275 pounds, which is about 35 pounds lighter than his current weight.
