SALT LAKE CITY -- We are now just one episode away from completing Hollywood Week and knowing which contestants make it to the top 30 of this season of American Idol; So far, Utah contestants Austin Wolfe and Kenzie Hall are still in the running to be this year’s American Idol.
Despite being a two hour show Wednesday night, we didn’t see the Utah contestants, which means their place on the show is still hanging in the balance, and they’ll know their fate after Thursday’s episode. FOX 13 News did talk with Kenzie Hall and Austin Wolfe about making it this far and their thoughts on the competition.
They’ve sang before, but for the first time on Wednesday night’s episode, we saw contestants – if they chose to – sing with a live band which made for some exciting performances. Then it was the anxious “Green Mile” meeting with the judges – dubbed the “Final Judgment” – as they found out if they made the cut to be one of the top 30 this season.
After Wednesday’s eliminations narrowing the field even more, Park City’s Austin Wolfe and Draper’s Kenzie Hall are just one episode away from finding out whether they’ve made the top 30.
Kenzie said: “Oh my goodness, it's crazy. I did not expect to be where I am in this competition at all.”
The two said they’re not thinking too far ahead, but are focused on doing the best they can in each round.
“I'm trying not to look forward to what's going to happen,” Austin said. “I'm trying to stay in the zone and focus on my next performance and how I can make that so good.”
As they continue to hone their craft and soak in the advice from the music industry’s biggest names, they say the potential to go all the way is setting in.
“I think I'm realizing how badly I do want this and how I want to prove it to myself that I can do this,” Kenzie said.
Austin adds, “I'm hoping that I can be remembered as the little girl with the big voice.”
Be sure to tune in Thursday when Austin and Kenzie’s fates are revealed.
