SALT LAKE CITY -- Police are investigating after three individuals carried out a daytime robbery at a jewelry store, and two shots were fired during the incident.

Det. Cody Lougy of the Salt Lake City Police Department said they received the 911 call at about 1:20 p.m., and they responded to The Jewelers Guild, located at 703 East 600 South.

Lougy said of the three suspects, initially described by witnesses as white males, one was dressed in a suit and tie and wearing a mask . At least one of the suspects was armed and two shots were fired into the floor. There were no injuries reported.

The suspects fled after the incident, and Lougy said investigators are still taking inventory to determine what was stolen from the store. The suspects left in a gray minivan, possible a Dodge Caravan, and they went north before circling the block and fleeing southbound.

Lougy said the suspects have been described as white males, and he said one of them was wearing a mask that looked like "an old person." He said details about the suspects are scarce. A witness said it appeared the other two suspects were wearing dark-colored hoodies.

"Our witnesses, along with the victims, got a real quick look at them, and as you can imagine with shots being fired, they were pretty nervous," he said.

Lougy said there is still an active investigation, and anyone with information about the crime or the suspects is asked to call 801 799-3000.
