MILLCREEK TOWNSHIP — A 19-year-old man is in custody after a three-hour standoff with SWAT Monday afternoon, police said Monday evening.

At approximately 3:40 p.m. police responded to the area of 700 East and Empire Avenue after the teen reportedly fired a shotgun at his mother’s car.

The teen was at his home with his mother when a 21-year-old man was in the backyard, said Lt. Justin Hoyal with Unified Police.

Hoyal said the man was considered an unwelcome guest and had been living in the family’s shed.

After the teen’s mother agreed to take the man to a TRAX station the 19-year-old grabbed a shotgun and reportedly shot at his mother’s car where the man was sitting, Hoyal said.

The man ran away, Hoyal said, and isn’t believed to be injured.

There were no other injuries reported.

The teen then reportedly went back inside the house.

The 19-year-old eventually surrendered without incident.
