SALT LAKE CITY – Experts say reading to children while they are young can boost their cognitive development, and a local organization is combining the celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday with an effort to increase reading.
Seuss’ birthday may be on Sunday, but the United Way of Salt Lake spent Friday going to local elementary schools to read with students—and their efforts were part of the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day, which is typically set on Seuss' birthday, March 2.
The organization also sent some costumed folks to the FOX 13 News studio, and they spoke about the importance of reading and the ways it can help children be more successful in life. Watch the whole video to see a ‘headless’ Grinch in Brett Benson’s weather report.
