SALT LAKE CITY – More than 300 dancers delivered a taste of Middle Eastern culture at an annual belly dancing event.
The 13th annual Belly Dance Spring Fest was held Saturday at the Utah State Fairgrounds, and participants performed in traditional costumes as traditional music played.
Event organizers said the event had wide appeal, and the dancers fell into age categories ranging from toddler to grandmother.
Thia Kapos of Belly Dancing by Thia created the event and said it was an enjoyable experience.
"It feels wonderful to perform,” Kapos said. “Instead of saying something, you actually dance it. So you actually use your body as an expression."
