Lehi City Council adopts plan for water shortages

Posted

LEHI, Utah — The Lehi City Council adopted a plan for managing water shortages earlier this month, and the plan includes color-coded phases that will determine water restrictions.

The plan applies to the city’s pressurized irrigation system, and that is the system residents and businesses use for watering lawns, washing cars and carrying out other outdoor activities.

The three phases of the plan are Phase 1: Normal Water Condition (Green), Phase II: Moderate Water Shortage (Yellow), and Phase III: Severe Water Shortage (Red).

Different phases come with different restrictions, some of which are voluntary while others are mandatory. See the images below for the restrictions, or click to download the file as a PDF: Water Shortage Management Plan

According to the plan, first-time violators will receive a notice. Second-time violators will receive a $100 fine and a warning–though the fine is reimbursable if the payee attends a water conservation seminar provided by the city. Third-time violators will be charged with a class C misdemeanor.
