SALT LAKE CITY – Dozens of Utah children hoped to score a strike Saturday at a fundraising event aimed at helping children in the community reach their potential.
The Bowl For Kids’ Sake event was hosted by the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah at the AMF Lanes, located at 2265 South State St.
The bowling event has been taking place for more than 25 years, and last year more than $140,000 was raised by local community members—according to a press release from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah.
The event is aimed at raising funds and increasing awareness regarding the professionally supported one on one mentoring relationships provided by the group. Mentor Brock Milton said both the children and the volunteers benefit from the program.
“In the mentor aspect, it has brought us a lot of happiness in our lives, probably more so than his sometimes,” he said. “Just the things that we are able to do and watch him grow and watch him learn, in all aspects.”
