SALT LAKE CITY – Officials with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said Wednesday that they have been able to contact and confirm the safety of all of their missionaries serving in Chile, which has experienced an 8.2-magnitude earthquake that has killed at least six people.
LDS Church Spokesman Cody Craynor released the following statement:
“All missionaries serving in Chile have been contacted and are safe.”
According to the LDS Church’s news website, there are nine missions in Chile and 622 congregations.
