SALT LAKE CITY -- Former Utah Governor Mike Leavitt received the Salt Lake Chamber's Giant in Our City Award Thursday night. The annual award is the chamber's highest honor.
Mitt Romney was the keynote speaker at the event held at the Grand America Hotel. During his remarks, he teased Leavitt for his habit of collecting odd mementos while traveling, and poked friendly fun at Leavitt's childhood in Cedar City.
Leavitt was called upon by President George W. Bush in 2003 to head the Environmental Protection Agency, and then again in 2005 to be the Secretary of the Health and Human Services Department.
The Leavitt's returned to Salt Lake City after their time in Washington D.C.
