SANDY, Utah -- A Sandy boy who disappeared Tuesday evening has been found safe.

Sandy police began searching for 10-year-old Donevin Smith after he was reported missing around 11:30 Tuesday night.

According to Sgt. Jon Arnold, a public information officer for Sandy City PD, Donevin's mother denied the boy's request to stay at a friend's house for the night. The child reportedly left that friend's house and went to another friend's house to hang out, where he fell asleep.

When he returned home the next morning, he was surprised to find out he had been reported missing. Donevin's father spoke with FOX 13 News' Tamara Vaifanua about the incident, see the video above for her interviews.

Police visited Donevin at his home Wednesday morning to interview him.
