SALT LAKE CITY -- Forty young men and women were pinned with a brand new title by the Salt Lake City Police Department Tuesday afternoon.

The volunteers were named “Guardians of the Fallen” after watching over the Utah Law Enforcement Memorial since November 2013.

The group, ages 14 to 20, volunteer their time to clean and maintain the memorial, in addition to be being mentored by Salt Lake City Police.
