Follow the Money: Utah politicians get more from EnergySolutions than any other Corp.

Posted

SALT LAKE CITY -- EnergySolutions works hard on its image, with naming rights for the arena where the Utah Jazz play, with millions of dollars of contributions to local charities, and with more political contributions to state candidates than any other corporation in Utah.

FOX 13 News looked at the numbers from 2011 to the political conventions of 2014 and found the radioactive waste company donated more than $458,000.

No other corporation gave more than $400,000 in the same time period.

"When [the candidates] come to us, we feel a responsibility in supporting the legislative process that allows these individuals, these good individuals that are running for office to be elected to govern the state," said company media relations Vice President Mark Walker.
