OGDEN, Utah – Ogden High School held a lockdown drill this week, both as a way to remind students that school rules are still in effect, and as a precaution against rumors.
The school performs lockdown drills every year, and this week’s drill reminded students that even though the school year is coming to a close, classes are still in session. It also hoped to dispel some rumors going around.
“In this incident, warm weather is here, flowers are blooming, kids are getting a little more agitated and eager to be outside. There are always rumors kind of flying with social media that this kid is coming to school to fight this kid,” said Zac Williams, Ogden High School director of communications. “And so this drill was taken as kind of a precaution to say, ‘Hey we are still in school. Watch what you are doing, keep it safe and focus on what we need to be doing.'”
Williams said that these particular rumors or threats made by students were vague and considered nothing serious.
