SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake Fire Station 9 in the International Center is in jeopardy of being shut down.
Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker recommended closing the station to save money.
Firefighters from the station went to the Salt Lake City Council Tuesday afternoon to make clear the negative impacts of closing any fire station.
Union President Steve Hoffman said if Station 9 closed, response time to medical emergencies or fires would increase to 9 ½ minutes in the designated area.
Hoffman told FOX 13 News the council members appeared to be impressed and asked all the right questions.
FOX 13 will continue to follow developments on this story.
