OAKLAND, Calif. – Police arrested a woman who allegedly lured a third grade student into a bathroom during recess and beat her with a hammer.

Haseemah Diame, a parent and volunteer at Lafayette Elementary in Oakland, was arrested by police after a teacher and security guard found the third-grade girl in the bathroom with serious injuries.

The child is in a hospital and is expected to recover.

Police said the initial investigation indicates there may have been a feud between the families at the school.
