SALT LAKE CITY – Eighteen Utah soldiers returned home Saturday after a year-long deployment, and their families and friends gathered to welcome them back.
Members of the Utah Army National Guard’s 65th Artillery Brigade landed in Salt Lake International Airport, were excited family members waited.
The deployed soldiers were in Afghanistan, where they worked to train and mentor members of the Afghan National Army in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
A soldier who returned Saturday said coming home is “the best feeling in the world.”
