MILLCREEK, Utah – A street in Millcreek now has a pedestrian light, and the effort comes after a fatal accident took place at that location last year.
The intersection at 3300 South and 2940 East features the pedestrian light after efforts by the east Millcreek community, Salt Lake County and Utah Department of Transportation officials.
Sam Granato, who represents Salt Lake County Council District 4, spoke about the project.
“I think it took that and the community coming together, those in government that could help make it happen, community councils being involved, and the old saying is: ‘it takes a village,’” he said.
Ben McAdams, Salt Lake County mayor, was also present.
“We are always looking at how we can improve pedestrian safety to make our communities more walkable and family friendly, so this is one investment that is now completed but we’re here today to also say that there is more on the way,” he said.
About $8 million has been dedicated to similar improvements that will be undertaken this year in places like Kearns, Magna and Emigration Canyon.
