HIGHLAND, Utah – A man who is a registered sex offender was taken into custody after police officers found him in a park near a high school naked.

Police said Darrell Jesse Little told them he was planning to go “skinny dipping” at the pond in Highland Glen Park, which is behind Lone Peak High School, around 12:30 a.m. Friday.

When police confronted the man, he tried to run. Police caught him and took him into custody. Detective Dave Ventrano of the Lone Peak Police Department spoke about the arrest.

“They also found in his possession – looked like a young girls T-shirt or something; they asked him about that, and he said he had found it on a bench and was using it to dry himself off.”

Officer also found shoes, toys and other items they said appeared to belong to a young female between the ages of 3 and 8 near the suspect.

An officer stated: “It seemed odd to me that Darrell would be in possession of little girl’s clothing and that other younger female items would be in close proximity of where Darrell was first observed. Darrell stated he located the t-shirt at a nearby bench and used it to dry himself off after swimming in the pond. When Darrell was asked why he did not bring a towel if his intent was to go swimming in the pond Darrell just stated he did not think of it. I attempted to further clarify with Darrell’s story but Darrell refused to answer my other questions.”

Little was charged with lewdness–as an enhanced charge because the suspect is a registered sex offender, criminal trespass and failure to stop at command of an officer.
