Family’s lemonade stand honors child who died of cancer, raises funds

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah -- Residents participated in the third annual Mr. C's Lemonade Stand Saturday, and the annual event is held in honor of a child who died due to cancer.

The Hansen family hosts the stand in honor of their son Christian and to raise money for children battling cancer and their families.

The stand is part of a national movement, Alex's Lemonade Stand, which began when a young cancer patient decided to do something to help other victims of childhood cancers.

Christian's mother, Krystal, spoke about Saturday's event.

"We call it Mr. C's lemonade stand in memory of our son Christian, who we lovingly called 'Mr. C.,'" she said. "We do it every June for his birthday celebration and all the money goes to fight childhood cancer."

The event also featured a silent auction, a bounce house and refreshment sales.
