UPDATE: A 12-year-old girl who has been missing since Saturday is safe and now with youth services.
Officials said Stevie Rae Shane called her grandmother to ask for a ride at about 3 a.m.
Police said Shane was with a 14-year-old friend in the Millcreek area of Salt Lake.
Officials said investigators will talk to Shane to find out what happened.
SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah – Police are asking the public for help finding a missing girl,and on Sunday they released additional details about who the teen may be with.
Stevie Rae Shane, 12, walked away from Youth Services Group Home at 10 p.m. Friday, according to South Salt Lake Police. The endangered missing alert was activated due to her age.
According to a press release from South Salt Lake Police issued Sunday, investigators learned the teen may be with a 14-year-old female, name unknown, and a male named Brandon, age and last name unknown. The teen was last seen Saturday around 1 p.m. in West Valley City and police said there are reports indicating the teen and those she was with may be traveling to Las Vegas.
Police officials said they are hoping the public can help them locate the teen before she leaves the area.
Stevie Rae Shane is five-feet tall and weights approximately 85 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing a purple and pink button shirt and purple pants.
Police said she has a history of running away and frequents the Cottonwood Heights and West Valley City areas.
