LEHI, Utah – A church in Lehi held an annual service Sunday that marked the end of the Utah Scottish Festival and Highland Games.
The Hidden Valley Presbyterian Church held their annual Kirkin' O' the Tartan Service, which featured Scottish traditions, music and the blessings of the Tartans.
A procession of people bearing flags representing various clans made their way through the church to receive the blessing. The ceremony celebrates the heritage of the descendants of Scottish immigrants to the United States and the kinship between the two nations.
“A lot of folks in Utah are of Scottish descent, and we think it is a very important thing to recognize that people who came to this country from Scotland made great sacrifices and were important parts of how our nation has developed into the great nation that it is,” Pastor Lee Mashburn said.
The public was invited to attend.
