SALT LAKE CITY – Police say a man was taken to a hospital early Saturday morning after a fight escalated and the man was shot in the buttocks.
Police were called to the area near 643 S. Redwood Road around 3:49 a.m. on reports of a fight.
Lt. Tyrone Fariallis of the Salt Lake City Police Department said when officers arrived they heard gunfire.
“It sounded like there was a shot that was fired, not by our officers but by someone in the fight,” he said.
A man was struck in the buttocks by a bullet and was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
Fariallis said the suspect who fired the shot fled on foot, and officers gathered up the other individuals present at the scene. The victim of the shooting had come to the home looking for his girlfriend, who Fariallis said was hanging out at the residence. When the victim arrived, a fight between the victim and men at the residence broke out.
Police said two individuals have been detained for questioning, but as of yet no one has been charged. Police are investigating the incident.
