New Air-Med team specializes in infant care

Posted

SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah healthcare introduced a new perinatal Air-Med team on Friday, and the three-person team has the ability to cover all of Utah and even parts of other states.

The team includes a newborn intensive care nurse, a perinatal respiratory therapist and an obstetrics nurse.

The team’s helicopter features a $300,000 isolette, and the equipment allows the team to monitor their patients’ vital signs and supply oxygen while providing infants with an environment controlled for temperature and humidity.

The team will begin transporting newborns who are up to 30-days-old. Check out the video above for more details and to meet members of the team.
