BROOKSIDE, Utah -- Residents in Brookside said they often see flooding along the river in the springtime, but they said the flooding they've experienced the last few days is like nothing they've seen before.

Several inches of rain fell in the area Friday night, and roads were washed out and garages and basements were flooded as a result.

Volunteer firefighters in the area have been putting sandbags up around homes and cleaning debris from roads. Officials said many of the properties in the area are vacation homes, so those who lived in the town had to run from house to house to ensure everything was OK.

Homes on the south end of town sustained the heaviest damage. Fire officials said no one was hurt and the whole community has pitched in to protect homes.

FOX 13 News' Ashton Goodell was in Brookside Sunday, see the video above for her report. Officials issued weather watches relating to flooding in various portions of Utah Sunday, click here for details.
