Kevin Ward Jr. was killed after crashing during a race and then walking out onto the track while pointing a finger and yelling as cars raced by. NASCAR driver Tony Stewart hit Ward, and the crash was caught on camera. Ward died due to injuries suffered in the crash. The race had slowed for a yellow flag as Ward walked out. See the video above for the footage.

The crash occurred during the Empire Super Sprints series event being held in upstate New York. Ontario County Sheriff Philip C. Povero said the accident occurred on lap 14 of 25 in the race. Povero said Stewart has been cooperative.

“Stewart has fully cooperated” with an investigation, Povero said. “He acknowledges the collision with the driver.”

A spokesman for Stewart stated: "A tragic accident took place last night during a sprint car race in which Tony Stewart was participating,” Mike Arning said. “Tony was unhurt, but a fellow competitor lost his life. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.”
