TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – Unified Police have two suspects in custody after the teen allegedly tried to rob the same store twice in two days.
Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said officers arrested a 17-year-old suspect and a 19-year-old suspect at an apartment complex in
Lt. Hoyal said the teens are accused of robbing a smoke shop at gunpoint in Taylorsville Tuesday near 4100 S. and Redwood Rd.
He said one teen stood outside as a lookout and the other teen went inside, flashed his gun to an employee and demanded money.
The teens got away with an unknown amount of cash.
Lt. Hoyal said the same teens are accused of going back to the same smoke shop the very next day and trying to rob the store again.
The store clerk recognized the teens and called the police.
The teens ran but officers were able to catch up with one in a store parking lot nearby.
Officers arrested the second teen at a nearby Taylorsville apartment complex shortly after.
Lt. Hoyal said authorities are investigating to see if these suspects could be connected to a recent string of armed robberies over the past few weeks.
The identities of the suspects have not been confirmed at this time.
