DAGGETT COUNTY, Utah — Search and rescue crews are searching for 69-year-old Charles Darrell Thomas at Flaming Gorge after the boat he was in capsized Monday afternoon.
At approximately 4 p.m., Thomas and a 62-year-old woman were riding in a 12-foot folding boat between Lucerne and Antelope Flat Campgrounds when for an unknown reason the boat overturned, according to Eugene Swalberg with Utah State Parks.
Swalberg said no life jackets were on board but the boat did have flotation cushions.
The woman used one of the cushions to swim to shore at Antelope Flat.
Thomas, of Riverton, is still missing.
Search crews have found the floatation cushion he would have used, Swalberg said.
Rescuers from state parks, the Uintah and Daggett County Sheriff’s Departments are searching for the man.
