OREM, Utah  – Six people in Utah County are facing aggravated kidnapping and assault charges.

The story involved a debt, a stabbing and a 17-year-old held captive.

Investigators said they are still working to sort out the details.

Police said a 17-year-old girl was kidnapped at about 7 a.m. Sunday near Orem.

Later that day, deputies said they were called about a man badly beaten and stabbed.

Officials said a debt of some kind was owed to the stabbing victim.

He is reported to have held the 17-year-old girl against her will for several hours while two other men went to collect on the debt.

They were not able to collect and friends of the 17-year-old girl allegedly went to an auto repair shop where they stabbed a man several times.

The girl was later released near Geneva Rd. and I-15.

“She was not injured at all,” Utah County Sgt. Spencer Cannon said. “She was found in good health, good condition and investigators are talking to her to find out exactly what happened. There’s a little more light being shed on that right now. We hope she gives us enough detail to be able to figure out exactly what went on and what the assault victim’s involvement was and any others that might be a part of that.”

Of the six arrested in this case, one of them is a juvenile .

One of those arrested is Yanio Palomo, the victim of the stabbing.

Brandon Warrilow, Christian Gutierrez, Chantelle Powelson and Sharcee Distefano are also facing charges.
