Family, pets escape 2-alarm Salt Lake City house fire unharmed

SALT LAKE CITY – Investigators are working to find the cause of a house fire that sparked in Salt Lake City overnight.

Fire crews were called to 2250 E. and 17th S. at about 2 a.m. for a two-alarm fire.

Crews said smoke and fire were billowing out of the home and they family and pets were already outside when they arrived.

Fire crew said working smoke detectors were what saved the family.

Emergency crews evacuated neighbors as a precaution when the fire spread from the home to the car port.

Officials have not confirmed the damage totals.

No one was seriously injured.
