CARBON COUNTY, Utah – Authorities are investigating after a miner was killed in an eastern Utah mine in Carbon County.
Officials said 46-year-old Price resident Alejandro Ramirez was killed in an accident at the West Ridge Mine.
No other miners were hurt.
A medical helicopter was called out and then canceled early Tuesday morning.
UtahAmerican Energy, Inc. said Ramirez worked for the company for six years.
The company said it sends its sincere condolences and prayers to the Ramirez family.
According to UtahAmerican, the West Ridge Mine has never had a serious accident in its 15-year history.
The company said Lila Canyon Mine, a sister to the West Ridge Mine, has never had a serious accident in its seven-year history.
