OREM, Utah — Orem police are using a new system to let residents know about emergencies such as power outages, crimes, and non-emergencies like upcoming sporting events.
Orem police officials say the mass communication system allows residents to “opt in” and provide cell phone numbers, email addresses and home phone numbers.
Residents can also pick the categories they want to receive notifications about.
Police say it’s free to the public. Residents also have to option to delete their information when they no longer want to receive notifications.
