SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – A teen has been taken into custody after he allegedly stabbed his step-father as a family was driving along 104th South Thursday, and the man who was stabbed has been taken to a hospital.

Sam Winkler of the South Jordan Police Department said the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. as a mother, father and the teenager were driving and the father and his step-son got into a verbal argument.

The altercation escalated, and the teen allegedly stabbed the 46-year-old man in the upper right part of the man’s chest. The man was taken to a hospital with injuries officials described as not being life-threatening.

The 16-year-old suspect was being transported to a juvenile detention facility to be booked on a charge of aggravated assault, Winkler said.
