SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake City Council met Tuesday night, and the ordinances adopted at the meeting include rules relating to snow removal, drive-thru service and outdoor dining.
Under the first proposal, property owners must clear a minimum part of the sidewalk of snow and ice equal to 42 inches, or the width of the sidewalk if it is narrower than that measurement.
Another ordinance amends the city’s regulations regarding drive-thru facilities, and the proposed change would allow bicyclists to use drive-thru window lanes during all business hours.
The council also adopted a proposal that would allow nonconforming restaurants to get approval for outdoor dining via the city’s special exception process.

A city official said new ordinances become official once they are published in the city code, which generally takes about 30 days.
