The following is a press release from Hill Air Force Base regarding the closure of gates at the base to accommodate construction.
HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -The South Gate construction currently underway for the installation of speed tables here is on schedule and will be completed Sunday, according to project officials.
Base employees and visitors are reminded that upon completion, the South Gate will return to normal 24/7 service Monday, and the East Gate will close.
Additionally, the Southwest Gate will also return to normal hours 5 to 8 a.m. and 2:30 to 5 p.m., weekdays only. It is closed weekends, holidays and on Air Force Materiel Command Family Days.
The West Gate will then be closed Oct. 6-19 for construction.
Following the West Gate closure, the Roy Gate construction will occur Oct. 20 – Nov. 8, and will operate at a reduced capacity, but will not close entirely.
Hill AFB is constructing speed tables at each of its three main gates in order to comply with Department of Defense antiterrorism standards. Speed tables are similar to speed bumps, but with slopping angular sides instead of a rounded profile.
