Ordain Women attend broadcasts of LDS General Conference Priesthood Session

PROVO, Utah — Members of Ordain Women took a different approach to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints semi-annual General Conference.

In the past, the women have requested  entry to the LDS Church’s priesthood session at the Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City and been turned away. The Priesthood meeting has historically been open to only men. This Saturday evening, the group went to sites where the meeting was broadcast instead.

A group of Ordain Women members gathered outside the Marriot Center at Brigham Young University. They sang, prayed and shared some thoughts before walking into the arena, where they were welcomed with no problems.

Members of Ordain Women hope that this will set a precedent for future meetings, leadership committees, and maybe even Church positions and callings.

Other women also attended the Priesthood meeting at their LDS ward houses and stake centers near their homes to watch the broadcast.
