NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah -- A couple in North Salt Lake has turned to social media for leads after their home was burglarized last month.
When Lindsey Tirmanstein came home on Sept. 23 she saw someone had ransacked her house. The vandals made off with $3,800 in electronics and jewelry, but more importantly, she says, they stole her sense of security.
“I should feel safe in my home,” she said “And feel my children are safe. And that put all of that into question.”
The police responded immediately and took down her report. Her husband Matthew also gave investigators his home surveillance video and then they waited for something to surface.
“And nothing happened,” he said “So I was like, ‘OK, I'm going to put it up [on social media] and see what happens.’ It took off!”
He posted the video on a social media sight call Imgur along with a call for help from the online community.
“We had 283,000 hits, in three days” Tirmenstein said.
The victims say they got a clear shot of the suspects face and car, but couldn't pull the license plate number.
They hope someone recognizes the vandals and calls North Salt Lake Police at 801-936-3880.
