The annual bison roundup at Antelope Island State Park began this week, and crews will be managing the island's herd of bison, which numbers in the hundreds.
FOX 13 News' Dave Nemeth takes us to the island to meet the riders who helped round the animals up. Officials use the roundup as an opportunity to manage the size of the herd, and riders came from far and wide to participate in the event as spectators looked on.
The animals will be weighed and undergo checkups, and animals above the desired population limit will be sold. The animals sold will either be taken to other herds or slaughtered for their meat.
