SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah -- A local organization worked with Summit County fruit tree owners to provide more than 1,000 apples for the county's food pantry.
Volunteers harvested the apples, which would have otherwise gone to waste, for the inaugural "Fruit Nuts" event.
“It’s a terrible shame to see fantastic heirloom apples go to waste,” said Barbara Richardson of Kamas, who helped organize the event. “We want to give the harvest to people who need it.”
