SALT LAKE CITY – As more people turn to the Internet for their holiday shopping, thieves are taking advantage of packages left on doorsteps.
Last December, a pair of thieves were caught on camera stealing eight packages from a Holladay family’s porch.
There are a few precautions homeowners can take to make sure they don’t fall victim. Make sure you track your package online so you know when it will be delivered, and try to be home when your package is coming, and if you can’t, have a neighbor bring them inside for you. Some companies even have the option to send you emails or text messages so you know exactly when your packages arrive.
If you don’t receive your package, contact your shipper to find out where it is, and if you suspect your items have been stolen, contact police.
