Bicyclist hit by drunk driver in critical condition, driver arrested for DUI, heroin

SALT LAKE CITY – A bicyclist is in critical condition after police say a drunk driver drifted into the bike lane and hit him early Thursday morning.

Officials said 34-year-old Russell Hobbs hit the victim sending him onto the windshield near 800 S. and 139 E.

Hobbs was arrested for driving under the influence.

Authorities said they found heroin and drug paraphernalia in Hobbs’ car after the accident.

The victim’s name has not been released.
