SALT LAKE CITY – The Children’s Ballet Theater in Salt Lake City is presenting its annual Christmas program for the fourteenth year in a row.
“Molly Mouse’s Sugar Plum Debut” is a spoof on the Nutcracker ballet. Through dance, it tells the story of a little mouse who falls asleep in her ballet class and dreams about landing a special part on stage.
With 150 mice heads and more then 100 children involved, the production took a lot of work. Directors say the show is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season.
“This is kind of our gift to the community. We’ve been dancing for 14 years in this little crazy ballet that we weren’t sure would take off, but it certainly has. It starts our Christmas spirit,” said Julie Orlob, director of the Children’s Ballet Theater.
The ballet performs on Monday and Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Rose Wagner Theatre. For more information, visit www.arttix.org.
