SALT LAKE CITY — If you’re planning to do any snowmobiling this winter, take a look at the Utah Avalanche Center’s “Knowledge Is Powder” video first.

The nine-minute video is aimed at snowmobilers, but also provides useful information for non-motorized winter sports enthusiasts.

“The video opens with jaw-dropping snowmobiling scenes, transitions into a sobering avalanche accident, then finishes with the 5 avalanche safety points, which have been adopted in North America for both motorized and non-motorized snow sports to help backcountry users get the goods and come home safely,” a statement from UAC said.

Officials with the Utah Avalanche Center came to the FOX 13 News Studio Friday to discuss snowmobile safety, see the video below for their interview.
