Search warrant offers details in accidental shooting that killed 12-year-old girl

KAYSVILLE, Utah – A search warrant related to the fatal accidental shooting of a 12-year-old girl in Kaysville has been unsealed, and the document provides further insight into the moments leading up the shooting.

According to a search warrant dated November 23 but only recently released, adults in the home were examining handguns prior to the shot that killed Adelaide Clinger.

The document states that after the adults had been examining the guns, “Father placed a loaded handgun in his pants pocket. A ten year old juvenile resident of the home accessed the firearm and discharged the firearm. The round struck a 12 year old juvenile resident of the home.”

Police took a Kahr PM9 9mm pistol from the home, along with one 9mm shell casing, one ammunition magazine for the gun and one 9 mm loaded cartridge.
