WEST COLUMBIA, SC – A family got much more than they bargained for after buying a couch on Craigslist.
The Johns family found what they thought was a heck of a deal for a sectional online.
After Katie Johns and her son discovered small red patches on their skin, the family knew the sale was too good to be true.
The doctor said the rash was likely from bed bugs.
“When I feel a tickle on my arm, like maybe the hair on my arm moves or I have a little itchy spot, I immediately think that I have a bug crawling on me,” Johns told WISTV.
The family said the $225 piece of furniture has cost them nearly $3,000 in extermination fees.
Johns said she hopes her story is a warning to others and is furious at the thought of the seller continuing to auction off furniture contaminated with bed bugs.
