WASHINGTON – Billionaire and former Utah GOP party chairman Jon Huntsman, Sr. is calling U.S. Sen. Mike Lee “an embarrassment” in a recent interview.
Sen. Lee and Huntsman spoke with Politico about the state of politics and the Tea Party in Utah.
Politico reported some Republicans have voiced concern over “Lee’s hard-line positions.”
Sen. Lee said he thinks he is “going to be OK” come 2016.
However, Huntsman had a different opinion.
“All I can say is Mike Lee is an embarrassment to the state of Utah,” Huntsman told Politico.
Huntsman told the political publication he refuses to meet with Sen. Lee because of his “extremely radical” positions.
“He’s tried to come in and see me several times. … I have no interest whatsoever in chatting with him,” Huntsman told Politico.
He told Politico he is considering putting his finances behind Lee’s challenger.
