OGDEN, Utah -- We often see orcs, elves, goblins and ghosts on the big screen, but more and more people want to bring their favorite characters and super heroes to life.

Jonathan Mario works on local and independent films as a makeup artist, but his craft really took off in the last couple of years with the rising popularity of Comic Con and fantasy conventions.

"I was a very imaginative child," Mario said. "I played Lord of the Rings in the backyard, I was always some sort of creature and it was amazing. Well, as I got older and learned those things don't actually exist, it became a game of: How can I make them exist?"

It's been a lifelong obsession to make imaginary things real for Mario, but the difference between make-believe as an adult is the budgets are bigger and the results are more realistic.
