TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – Unified Police and SWAT said they have one man in custody after a standoff situation where the man barricaded himself inside a Taylorsville apartment complex.

The Mark Twain apartments near 45th S. and 7th W. were involved in the standoff since about 8:30 Tuesday night.

The initial call was for an aggravated domestic dispute between 30-year-old Francisco Gomez and a woman.

Police said he pistol whipped her and held a gun to her head, all in front of a child.

When police arrived, he ran into his apartment and police said he could be heard barricading it.

Around 4 a.m. police discovered Gomez was hiding inside of an appliance.

Police believe Gomez hid because he has some outstanding warrants and a history of violent crimes.

He did have a weapon with him when he was found.

The original victim and child are safe and in good condition.
