SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s House of Representatives is shutting down a Salt Lake City ordinance that requires drive-thru restaurants to serve pedestrians and bicyclists.
House Bill 160 passed off the floor on Tuesday on a 52-21 vote. It will now go on to the full Senate for consideration.
Rep. Johnny Anderson, R-Taylorsville, told his fellow lawmakers his bill is because “if a municipality has crossed the line, it is… on us to bring them back in line.” Anderson said businesses have complained the Salt Lake City ordinance put an undue burden on them.
